GO & DO: ‘Rewind’ exhibit coming to close at Tyler Museum of Art

This is the last weekend to see Tyler Museum of Art’s exhibit “Rewind: Selections from Private Collections.” The show ends on Sunday.
The exhibit’s title acknowledges that all the artists in the show previously have had art on view at the museum. The pieces are owned by private collectors and are on loan.

Curated by the museum’s Caleb Bell, the exhibition features more than 30 pieces spanning from early Texas landscapes to contemporary collages.
Artists with works to view include Elaine de Kooning, Robert Motherwel, Lance Letscher and Alexis Serio.
The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. For information, call 903-595-1001 or visit tylermuseum.org.
Tyler Museum of Art also is displaying “David Bates: Selected Works from Texas Collections” through Sept. 9.
HIT THE BRICKS ON SATURDAY
Businesses and attractions in downtown Tyler have activities planned on Saturday for the monthly Hit the Bricks observance.

Free parking is available at the parking garage at Broadway and Elm.
FUNDRAISING SALE
The Tyler Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary will sell donated furniture, toys, tools and household goods 8 a.m. to noon on Friday and Saturday at its buildings at 717 N. Spring Ave.
The money raised will support the auxiliary’s programs.
SACRED HARP SINGING CONVENTION
The annual East Texas Sacred Harp Singing Convention is set for Saturday and Sunday at Henderson Civic Center, 1500 Lake Forest Parkway, Henderson.
Sacred harp songs are written using an English four-note system and are sung a’cappella.
The convention hours are 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

DISCOVERY SCIENCE PLACE
Discovery Science Place, 308 N. Broadway Ave., is presenting “Return of the Dinosaurs” through Aug. 19. Tickets: $6 for 12 and younger and $8 for 13 and older. Hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday; 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

“Shape & Form Reloaded,” an exhibition of sculptures and paintings by Jessica Sanders, Cierra McGuckie and Dace Lucia Kidd, is on view during business hours at the Martin Walker Law Firm, 121 N. Spring Ave., through May 31, 2019.
TIGER CREEK ANIMAL SANCTUARY
Tiger Creek Animal Sanctuary, 17552 FM 14 between Tyler and Hawkins, is now home to a rare white African lion cub named Luna.
The cub is on view at 10 a.m and 1 p.m. each day. The sanctuary is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.

Tyler spraygrounds and pool are open throughout the summer.
