Frankston woman killed in Cherokee County head-on collision

- The City of Tyler is warning residents about a scam circulating on Facebook, falsely claiming dangerous criminals are in the area.
A Frankston woman was killed and a Lufkin man was injured in a head-on collision in Cherokee County.
Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers responded to the two-vehicle wreck shortly before 6:30 p.m. Wednesday on U.S. Highway 175 about 6 miles west of Jacksonville.

A preliminary crash investigation revealed Alejandro Zuniga, 19, of Lufkin was driving east on U.S. 175 in a 2002 Dodge Ram.
Stacie Stallings Means, 49, of Frankston was traveling west on the same highway in a 2010 Mazda M3S.
For an unknown reason, Zuniga drifted into the oncoming lane of traffic striking the Mazda with the left front portion of the vehicle before traveling off the roadway to the south.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
Zuniga was transported to UT Health – Tyler in serious condition.
Means was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.

One person is dead and at least one is en route to the hospital following a crash in Cherokee County, according to scanner traffic.
One person has been transported from the scene by ground and a second person is being transported by Air 1 medical helicopter.
A chaplain is on scene, according to Jacksonville Fire Department, and the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department said a Justice of the Peace has been called.
