The Tyler Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. held its 34th Jr. Debutante Presentation Friday at the Tyler Rose Garden Center.

Themed “A Summer in Paris,” the fundraising event supports Delta Sigma Theta’s goal to serve the community in the categories of economic and educational development, international involvement, social action and physical and mental health. Funds raised during the contest are used to support services and programs in those areas.

Young women who are moving from the eighth grade into high school are eligible to participate in the contest. The young lady who raises the most money is crowned Jr. Debutante Queen.

Jasmine Burks was crowned queen for 2018. At the presentation, entertainment for the Queen and her court was provided by members of Kids Aspiring to Dream and Soldiers of Christ Step Team.

President Denise Pendleton stated it is a privilege each year to present the young women.
