Funeral services for Mary Magdalene Butler Sims, 94, of Tyler are scheduled for Saturday, June 9, 2018 1:00 PM at Brooks Sterling & Garrett Memorial Chapel with Dr. S. L. Curry eulogist. Interment will be held in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Brooks Sterling & Garrett Funeral Directors.
Mary Butler was born on March 7, 1924 to the late Jesse and Arzola Cooks Butler. She was the fifth of eleven children.

She began her education in Winona, Texas. She was a graduate of Emmett J. Scott High School.
Mary married Albert Sims. He preceded her in death.
She was employed at Camp Fannie, New York Department Store and did private sitting. Her most rewarding job was cross guard for the Tyler Independent School District.
Mary joined Liberty Baptist Church and served in the Usher Ministry. Later she united with Carter Temple CME Church. She served in the choir, Stewardess Board and Mission Ministry.
Sister Mary was preceded in death by her son and nine siblings.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: a sister Betty English; 2 nieces, Lamisa Landers and Patricia Johnson and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and other relatives.
