Authorities believe distracted driving played a role in a fatal Henderson County crash that killed a 7-year-old.

Stacy Gale Laroche, 28, of Mabank, was distracted by one of four children in her SUV and failed to navigate a curve, according to a preliminary crash report from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The crash happened Monday on Farm-to-Market Road 2329, 1 mile south of Eustace.

Laroche’s 2003 Ford Expedition was traveling south when it failed to navigate a curve. The vehicle went off the road on the west side and vaulted over a private drive. It landed on its right side before it tumbled end-over-end and stopped upside down in a ditch.

A passenger in the vehicle, Aviana Laroche, 7, of Mabank, was airlifted to Children’s Hospital in Dallas, where she died Wednesday.

A 4-year-old girl was transported to UT Health Tyler, where she was listed in stable condition, according to the DPS.

A 3-year-old boy and a 1-year-old girl were not injured in the crash.

Stacy Laroche was taken to Christus Mother Frances Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition, according to the DPS.
