Michael Morissette, Chase Evans help power TJC Apaches to win over New Jersey squad

Michael Morissette and Chase Evans belted home runs to power the No. 3 Apaches to a 13-5 win over No. 2 Rowan-Gloucester (New Jersey) on Monday in the NJCAA Division III World Series at Pioneer Park in Greeneville, Tennessee.
The Apaches (31-27) advance to meet No. 4 Oakton (Illinois) (42-16) in the undefeated game at 8 a.m. Tuesday. The winner moves on to the national championship game.
Oakton (42-16) defeated Rockingham (North Carolina), 12-2, to advance.
The Apaches have now won 33 straight postseason games as they seek their fifth straight World Series title and sixth overall. That postseason streak includes 18 consecutive World Series wins.
Tyler trailed the Roadrunners 3-0 before plating nine runs in the fourth inning.
Evans, a sophomore center fielder from Kingwood, added two singles for three hits and four RBIs.

Apaches with two hits each were Braden Wise, Morissette, Taylor Broadway, Pierce Hollister and Ty Meissner. One of Broadway’s hits was a double. Cade Watson, John Mike Bounds and Kaleb Bell added singles as TJC pounded out 16 hits.
Others with RBIs were Wise (2), Morissette (2), Broadway (2), Watson and Bell.
Scoring runs were Evans (3), Morissette (2), Hollister (2), Wise, Watson, Broadway, Bounds, Bell and Meissner.
Jack Goan led the Roadrunners with a homer and double, along with three RBIs. Alex Gattinelli and Dillon Tassi had two hits each with JJ Ganzaroli, Ryan Murphy and Jose Zayas adding singles. Anthony Angelino and Zayas had RBIs.
Scoring runs were Goan (2), Ganzaroli, Gattinelli and Tassi.
Mason Whitmarsh, a sophomore from Keller, got the win on the mound to improve to 5-5. He gave up nine hits and five runs, of which four were earned. Whitmarsh pitched six innings and struck out seven while not issuing a walk.
Michael Spinozzi pitched two innings and did not allow a hit while striking out one and walking a batter. Cameron Carver pitched a 1-2-3 ninth.
Jack Parkinson (8-2) took the loss, tossing three innings while giving up 10 hits and seven runs while striking out one but not walking a batter.
Due to the ominous weather forecast for the remaining days of the NJCAA DIII World Series, all consolation bracket games will be shortened to seven innings.
