A Gladewater senior has excelled at baseball since he was 3 — something doctors didn’t think he could do.
Keylon Mack was diagnosed with cerebral palsy months after birth. He said doctors told his family he wasn’t going to be able to walk, but with his family’s support, he persevered.
“I was always in casts. I would break the casts because they were uncomfortable, and then they’d have to get me more casts. … I had to walk around with my braces, and after a while, I didn’t need any more braces, and I could walk around,” he said. “I overcame that and … it’s nothing but God. He got me this far.”
Mack said he walked “a little clumsy” at first but eventually he was able to run from base to base, starting with T-ball.
