Westbound I-20 has reopened to traffic.

Crews are still working to remove an 18 wheeler trailer straddling the westbound I-20 travel lanes.
The trailer has been crushed and is being put on a tow truck.
Once debris is cleaned up TXDOT will sweep the roadway and prepare to reopen to traffic.
TxDOT said there is no timeline on how much longer the process will take.

A DPS preliminary crash investigation report indicates the driver of a 2000 Oldsmobile passenger car was traveling westbound on I-20 in the eastbound lanes of traffic.
The Oldsmobile struck a 2017 Dodge Ram pickup towing a flatbed trailer in the eastbound inside lane.
At the same time, the driver of a 2012 Peterbuilt tractor-trailer towing a semi-trailer was also traveling eastbound.
DPS said the driver of the tractor-trailer took evasive action to the right and then the left to avoid the collision.
That action caused the truck and towed semi-trailer to cross the center median and overturn in the westbound lanes of traffic where it was struck by another tractor-trailer towing a tanker trailer traveling in the westbound lane, according to DPS.
The driver of the Oldsmobile was pronounced dead at the scene by Judge Shamburger.
The driver of the Dodge Ram pickup was treated and released at the scene.
The drivers of the tractor-trailers were pronounced dead at the scene by Judge Shamburer.
DPS is in the process of confirming the identities and notifying the next of kin of the people involved in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.

Westbound side of IH-20 at the crash site is still closed at this time and traffic continues to be redirected.
UPDATE: Eastbound lanes of I-20 are now open, westbound lanes remain closed and traffic is still detoured.
Westbound traffic detour, according to TxDOT
– Mile Marker 568 (SH 155 Winona Exit)
– Turn left onto SH 155 to US 271
– Turn right onto US 271 toward Tyler
– Turn right on FM 2015 to travel back to I-20
Three people were killed Wednesday in a fatal crash on Interstate 20 near mile marker 567, the Texas State Highway 155 exit, in Smith County.
Texas Department of Safety Troopers were on the scene shortly before 1 a.m.
The crash involved a car, a dually pickup towing a 30-foot trailer, and two tractor-trailers, one was towing a a saltwater tanker and the other was towing a box trailer.
Traffic is being diverted in both directions. Eastbound traffic is rerouted onto Farm-to-Market Road 2015 and onto U.S. Highway 271. Westbound traffic is rerouted at Highway 155 North to Highway 271.
Motorist are urged to use caution in this area.
