TOMMY EARL MALONE

Funeral services for Mr. Earl Malone, 79, of Carthage, Texas, will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Carthage with Dr. Allen Tilley and Rev. Bobby Earl Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Walton Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Monday night at Hawthorn Funeral Home.

Mr. Tommy Earl Malone was born August 20, 1938 in Van Zant County, Texas. Mr. Malone died March 29, 2018 in Carthage, Texas. He was the oldest of three children born to the marriage of Chester Lee and Elois Auntee Ashley Malone. Earl was a Carthage graduate with the class of 1956. It was there he met his love, Elizabeth Ann “Libby” LaGrone. They married July 27, 1956 and celebrated 55 years of marriage. Mr. Malone retired from Texas Eastman after almost 30 years of service working in Research and Development.

He was a longtime and faithful member of First Baptist Church of Carthage, Where he was a member of the Victory Sunday School Class. Mr. Malone served as past president of the Panola County Youth Baseball League and coached American Legion Baseball. Earl loved working with his cattle. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Libby Malone in January of 2012.

Mr. Malone is survived by his son, Jay Malone of Carthage, daughter, Jena Van Winkle and husband Mark of Carthage, brothers, Donald Malone and wife Judy of Tyler, and Noland Malone of Carthage, grandchildren, Ryan Malone and wife Rachel of Florida, Ashley Green and husband Jeremy of Florida, Max Malone and wife Avery of Carthage, Reid Malone of Arkansas, Calahan Malone and Josh Van Winkle both of Carthage, great grandchildren, Alli, Andrew, Patrick, Graham, Maverick and Bo, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Max Malone, Calahan Malone, Curt Malone, Todd Malone, Trevor Malone and Trent Malone.
