Graveside services for Mrs. Alvarene Chastain, age 96, of Lindale, Texas are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at the Lindale City Cemetery with Dr. Mark Neeley officiating. Services are under the direction of Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale. Mrs. Chastain died Sunday, March 18, 2018 in a Tyler healthcare center. She was born in Kempner, Texas on March 25, 1921 to the late Eugene and Mona (Owens) Wilson and grew up in Kilgore, Texas. Mrs. Chastain graduated from Kilgore High School, Kilgore Junior College and North Texas State University. She went on and obtained her Masters in Elementary Education through Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, Texas. Mrs. Chastain was a school teacher for 40 years teaching for the Kilgore ISD and the Lindale ISD. Mrs. Chastain recognized the growing advanced interests and desire of children wanting to learn more and she spent her life helping children achieve their full potential and was awarded the Kinzie Award by being named “Teacher of the Year” in 1980 by the Lindale Rotary Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Orville Chastain on October 5, 1994. Mrs. Chastain is survived by her daughter & sonin-law, Jane Ann & Kyle Morrison of Tyler, Texas; grandsons, John Morrison and wife, Ashley of Tyler, Texas and Matthew Morrison and wife, Hong Zhu of Dallas, Texas; and great granddaughters, Avery Morrison and Tatum Morrison of Tyler, Texas.
