Funeral services for Raymon Cooksey, age 84, of Tyler, Texas are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 28, 2018 at the Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale, Texas with Rev. Bill Minson and Rev. Ronny Cooksey officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Chapel Cemetery near Van with services under the direction of Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale. Raymon died Friday, January 26, 2018 in a Tyler hospice center. He was born in Reed, Oklahoma on January 24, 1934 to the late Ralph and Bonnie Oneida (Tidwell) Cooksey. After serving in the United States Army he started his career as a homebuilder in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. In 1978 he moved to the Tyler/Swan area where he started his own business as a commercial sheetrock contractor. After his retirement in 1999 he worked and traveled with the Texas Baptist Men. He was a member and a deacon of the Swan First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his sister, Roberta Rodman; brother, Bill Cooksey; and grandson, David Cooksey. Raymon is survived by his wife, Vernette Cooksey of Tyler, Texas; daughters & sons-in-law, Cindy & Gary Wink of Anna, Texas, Beverly & Blake Crosby of Richardson, Texas and Terri Harvey of Tyler, Texas; son & daughter-in-law, Ronny & Kathy Cooksey of Albuquerque, New Mexico; brother, Jerry Cooksey of Dallas, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and several nieces. Serving as pallbearers will be members of Raymon’s family. The family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Saturday, January 27, 2018 at the Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale.
