The victim of Monday’s motel fire in Mineola has been identified as Gerardo Valadez from Mineola.

Officials were still waiting on a preliminary autopsy report for the cause of death.

The fire began late Monday night and was contained early Tuesday morning.

The fire was still under investigation.
