A 19-year-old man was sentenced to eight years in prison for his role in the October 2016 robbery of a Tyler convenience store.
Jordan Taylor Devers pleaded guilty and was convicted Monday in the first-degree felony of aggravated robbery of the Pac-N-Sac gas station, 403 SSE Loop 323. The crime happened on Oct. 18, 2016.
Police said Devers drove the get-away vehicle, while Martiness Jones-Bigham, 20, of Tyler robbed the store.
A store clerk reported to police that a young man wearing a black hoodie entered the store with a pocketknife, walked around the counter and demanded money.
The clerk threatened him with a Taser and chased him out of the store, according to police.
Devers was arrested Oct. 18 and stayed in the Smith County Jail awaiting trial.
Devers’ eight-year sentence in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice began Monday with almost a year of jail credit. Devers was on probation for burglary of a habitation when the robbery was committed.
Jones-Bigham awaits trial on an aggravated robbery charge. His trial is set for Oct. 2, according to Smith County judicial records.
