A batter loves a four for four game. It’s a special day at the plate, but not uncommon.
A team winning four straight national championships is another story.

Tyler Junior College gets that chance on Wednesday as the Apaches are seeking their fourth consecutive national baseball championship.
TJC (40-20) will meet Niagara County (New York) (47-9) in the title game of the NJCAA Division III World Series at Pioneer Park in Greeneville, Tennessee.
First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. An Apache win means Tyler captures not only its fourth straight title, but also its fifth overall. However, if the Thunder Wolves come out on top, a winner-take-all game will be played at 6 p.m. Thursday.
The tourney is double-elimination. The Apaches are the lone unbeaten team, which included a 4-1 victory over Niagara County on Sunday.
The Thunder Wolves, from Sanborn, New York, won three straight elimination games, including two on Tuesday, to advance to the finals.
On Monday, Niagara County defeated Northampton (Pennsylvania), 14-1 (six innings). On Tuesday, the Thunder Wolves downed Century (Minnesota), 10-5; and Cumberland County (New Jersey), 10-8.

“We’re fortunate to make a run at this thing again,” TJC coach Doug Wren said. “I’ve never had a team like this that has battled so many injuries. We had five arms go down, a shortstop- and two outfielders. We’ve had people step in and taken on bigger roles and fill some shoes. To their credit, they kept coming back after each injury.”
Now, the Apaches are one victory away from hoisting the trophy again.
