OKLAHOMA CITY – UT Tyler was hoping to bring home the gold again this year to the Rose City, but the Patriots will have to settle for bronze.

No. 1 Virginia Wesleyan captured two wins over the defending national champion and No. 4 ranked Patriots on Sunday in the NCAA Division III Softball World Series.

The Marlins avenged an opening round loss to the Patriots on Tuesday, scoring wins of 5-2 and 5-3 wins at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium.

The Patriots conclude their season at 46-6.

Virginia Wesleyan (52-3) advances to the best-of-three national championship series against St. John Fisher (New York), who is undefeated in OKC.
