When Duck Dynasty stars Miss Kay Robertson and her daughter-in-law, Lisa Robertson, were asked to speak about pro-life choices at the ninth annual Call Her Blessed luncheon in Tyler Tuesday, they knew exactly what they needed to do.
Many know Miss Kay for her quick wit and humorous conversations on Duck Dynasty with husband, Phil, but something most may not realize is the couple became pregnant when Miss Kay was just 16.

Unwed and scared, the couple decided together to keep their child, who would later grow up to be Alan Robertson – the eldest of the Robertson children.
“My grandmother was my rock, and she taught me things out of the Bible and one of them was to love your children and you fight for your children. When I found out I was pregnant, the circumstances were not the best, but I never said anything other than I would keep this baby,” Miss Kay said. “In my mind, I had already found my perfect pioneer husband to be, so I never thought it would be any different.”
Miss Kay reflects on calling her husband to tell him that they were expecting a child at 16 and 18 years old.
“He could’ve chose to say that he’d changed his mind, and that he wouldn’t want the responsibility to be a dad at 18, but I always thought positive and thought he would say come on. And he did,” Miss Kay said.
For Lisa, it was a different outcome after becoming pregnant at 16. She chose a different path, but she has accepted her past and moves forward speaking on the lessons she learned along the way. Lisa is now married to Alan Robertson.
“We both were pregnant at 16, and Kay of course chose life and I’m blessed, because I married her son that she chose life for. At 16, I made a different choice, and it’s just a matter of bringing that together and saying that we can celebrate because we have a really good friend who also got pregnant at 16 and gave her baby up for adoption, and she met her baby again when he turned 18 – the choices we all made were not easy,” Lisa Robertson said.

Miss Kay and Lisa will share those stories as guest speakers at the Call Her Blessed Luncheon, “Tied to Life,” at the Green Acres Baptist Church Crosswalk in Tyler at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. The luncheon is an event that gives light on pregnancy and the choices a young mother has.
“I want to give people hope because I know there will be women there that chose the same decision that I did, and I want to give those women hope that there is healing through that,” Lisa Robertson said.
