BRYAN (AP) – Richmond Foster’s Cedarian Lamb and Mansfield Legacy sophomore Jalen Catalon are the players of the year on the 66th Annual Collin Street Bakery/Texas Sports Writers Association’s Class 5A all-state football team.

Whitehouse junior defensive back Javier Neal, who last week was named to the All-East Texas first-team, can now add being a TSWA all-state third teamer to his growing list of accolades. Neal finished with eight interceptions, returning two of those four touchdowns, while making 63 tackles for the Wildcats. He also had 10 pass breakups, two forced fumbles and five tackles for loss.

Joining Neal on the third team are running backs Cameron Haller of Marshall and Phillip Jones of Nacogdoches.

Lamb took offensive honors overall as the senior wide receiver, who signed with the University of Oklahoma, had 98 catches for 2,032 yards with 33 touchdowns for 14-1 Foster. Catalon, a sophomore defensive back, had 196 tackles and nine interceptions – six of them in the postseason – for 11-3 Legacy.
