Residents near Jack Elementary and surrounding areas may have stepped out the door to find an empty grocery sack sitting with a note on their front step. The Dayspring Student Ministry with Dayspring United Methodist Church is hosting their annual Souper Bowl soup drive event. According to a statement in a press release, the group collected around 1,000 canned goods during this event and donated it all to Lane’s Chapel United Methodist Church food pantry. The Dayspring Student Ministry would like to continue the tradition in hopes to receive more donations than last year.
“Our youth has done this at least two years in a row, and we had a good amount donated last year,” said Assistant Youth Minister Chad King. “We will be picking the bags back up and bringing them to Lane’s Chapel at about 3:00 on Sunday.”
Those wanting to donate, but did not receive a grocery sack to use can drop off any canned goods or travel sized toiletries to 310 West Cumberland Road in front of the doors to the office. The Dayspring Student Ministry youth group will be picking them up on Sunday afternoon before the Super Bowl.
