St. Gregory School students qualify for Duke University Talent Identification Program

Excellent performance on the IOWA Achievement Tests, a national standardized test, has qualified fourth- and fifth-grade students at St. Gregory Cathedral School to participate in the highly selective Fourth to Sixth Grade Talent Search offered through the Duke University Talent Identification Program (Duke TIP).

This program has helped gifted students identify and realize their full academic potential since 1980. As a nonprofit organization, Duke TIP’s goals are to help exceptional students achieve maximum success in school and in life, and to provide educators and parents with the resources they need to meet the unique academic, social and emotional needs of gifted children.
Students at St. Gregory qualify through scores on the IOWA Assessments, a standardized test.
Students must meet the following qualifications:
1. Scoring at or above the 95th percentile on an accepted grade-level standardized test, aptitude test, mental-ability test or state criterion-referenced test.
2. Scoring 125 or above on a standard IQ test
Eighty-two percent of the fifth-grade class, and 54 percent of the fourth-grade class qualified for Duke TIP.
