Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams have been singing and performing as musicians most of their lives – but in separate ventures.
Over the decades, they have amassed impressive resumes.
Campbell spent eight years serving as the lead guitarist and a backup singer for the legendary Bob Dylan on Dylan’s Never Ending Tour. He has played on songs released by Paul Simon, Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovett and Rosanne Cash
Williams’ background includes musical theater and performing in clubs. She has worked on stage with Emmylou Harris and Mavis Staples, among others.
These days, the husband and wife work together. They recently released their debut self-titled album and are on a national tour.
They will perform at 8 p.m. Nov. 12 at Liberty Hall, 103 E. Erwin St., Tyler. Tickets cost $15 or $20 and are available on the venue’s website, libertytyler.com. Tickets also will be sold at the box office before the show.

Campbell, a native New Yorker, and Williams, who hails from Tennessee, met while working at the Bottom Line club in New York in the mid-1980s. They began working regularly together in 2005 as part of a group of musicians and singers at the Woodstock, N.Y., music studio of Levon Helms, a Grammy winner and actor.
That seven-year experience inspired Campbell and Williams to write and perform their own music, a blend of country, gospel, folk and country.
“It was the most pure musical experience I’ve ever had,” Campbell said on his website about working with Helms. “It gave me the template for how to make music for the rest of my life: No egos, no agenda, no petty stuff. I looked forward to every gig I ever did with Levon. I loved doing it, and when it was over, I couldn’t wait for the next one. I got inspired to write more songs for Teresa and me to sing.”
Opening the concert will be The Magills, a Tyler couple who frequently performs in East Texas and will soon release their debut album.
Matt Magill is producing the concert and is playing a key role in bringing Campbell and Williams to Tyler.
“Their talent is huge,” Magill said of Campbell and Williams.
He described their music as capturing a “language of yearning” through “lonesome harmonies.”
“They sing a lot of the songs of old from the Americana songbook,” he said. “I think there is something very powerful about a married couple singing in harmony and baring their souls.”
Magill hopes East Texans will come out for the concert and support musicians with rich musical pedigrees, who come to Tyler.
“It would be great if Tyler became this little outpost of quality music,” he said.
