Texas Spine and Joint Hospital achieved five stars for its performance in total knee replacement, total hip replacement, back surgery and spinal fusion surgery care from Healthgrades, an online resource helping consumers make informed decisions to find the right hospital for the right care.

A five-star rating indicates Texas Spine and Joint Hospital’s clinical outcomes are significantly better than expected when treating the condition or performing the procedure being evaluated. According to Healthgrades data, orthopedic and spine surgery patients treated at a five-star facility are 51 to 67 percent less likely to experience common post-operative complications, such as hospital-acquired infection, deep vein thrombosis (blood clots), joint dislocation, surgical implant malfunction and surgical site infection, depending on the procedure performed. Similarly, patients treated at a one-star hospital are 2 to 3 times more likely to experience post-operative complications.

“The physicians and employees of Texas Spine and Joint Hospital dedicate significant time and resources toward achieving successful patient experiences and clinical outcomes,” said Tony Wahl, the hospital’s CEO . “Improved patient outcomes are extremely important, not just during the immediate post-operative period, but, for the months and years that follow.
