Apaches take two soccer wins

MOUNT PLEASANT – The Tyler Junior College soccer teams swept a Region XIV doubleheader with Northeast Texas Community College on Friday.
The No. 4 Apache Ladies scored a 7-0 victory, followed by the No. 1 Apaches 9-0 win.
The TJC squads are back in action on Saturday, traveling to Paris for matches at 1 and 3 p.m. NE Texas plays host to Jacksonville on Saturday as well with games at 2 and 4 p.m.
The Apache Ladies improved to 13-1-1 overall and 7-0 in Region XIV play.
The Lady Eagles fell to 11-3 and 5-3.
The Apaches moved to 15-0 and 11-0.
The Eagles fall to 6-8-2 and 2-8-2.
TJC took a quick 3-0 lead as Yazeed Matthews scored the first three for the hat trick. Mohammed Kamara had two assists from on Matthews’ goals, while George Braima had the other.
The Apaches took a 6-0 halftime lead as Christoph Schneuwly, Paul Odendahl and Yudai Tashiro. Assists were from Alfono Ochoa and Rooby Dalusma. Odendahl’s goal was unassisted.
Scoring goals in the second half were Ochoa, Eric Cruz and Fredi Ortega. Ochoa scored on a penalty kick, while Ortega’s was unassisted. Ortega assisted on the Cruz goal.
