Tyler Lee Theater is presenting “High School Musical on Stage!” – a show based on the Disney Channel popular movie, “High School Musical.”
Performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Jan E. Jones Fine Arts Center, on the campus.
Tickets will be sold at the door for $10 for adults and $5 for students.
Almost 70 Tyler Lee students make up the cast and crew, the show’s producer. Michael Ward said.
Full of songs and dance routines, the story explores themes of friendship, first love and acceptance. It focuses on the relationship of Troy, a star athlete, and Gabriella, the new smart girl at school. Things become complicated when they decide to audition for their school’s musical and face opposition from others.
The cast includes Andrew Tompkins, as Troy; Lizzie Tucker, as Gabriella; JJ VanDeventer, as Sharpay; Fritz Hager, as Ryan; Aryn Preddy, as Taylor; Matthew Jones, as Chad; and Rhea Dhakal. A few staff members take on cameo roles and several students make up the large chorus, he said.
The musical is directed by Janee McGoff and Clay Nail is technical director. Amy Clemens is stage manager and Lara Miller is the choreographer. Jerry Page is the musical director.
