Dallas attorney Talmage Boston is the keynote speaker for the Smith County Bar Foundation’s annual Constitution Day set for 1:30 p.m. Thursday, in the Mabry Auditorium at the University of Texas -Tyler.

Boston will speak on the “Ten Commandments of Great Presidential Leadership,” using insights gleaned from his latest book. 

In addition to his law practice, Boston’s avocation for 31 years has been the study of presidential history. His latest book, “Cross-examining History: A Lawyer Gets Answers from the Experts about Our Presidents,” contains edits from more than 31 interviews Boston conducted with leading historians and presidential insiders.

Constitution Day is a federal holiday commemorating the signing of the United States Constitution on Sept. 17, 1787, and recognizing all persons who, by birth or naturalization, have become citizens of the United States. The law creating the present form of Constitution Day was passed by Congress in 2004.

“The purposes for observing Constitution Day align perfectly with the mission of the Smith County Bar Foundation which exists to further justice and the rule of law in Smith County, Texas by educating and serving its citizens,” Andy Tindel, president of the Smith County Bar Foundation, said. ” 

Past speakers to Tyler to commemorate Constitution Day include Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, former U.S. Solicitor General Kenneth Starr, and last year, Michael Morton, a man wrongfully imprisoned for almost 25 years for a murder he did not commit.
