The Tyler Police Department is investigating a suspected double homicide early Sunday morning after two Tyler residents were found dead with multiple gunshot wounds in a wooded area across the street from Club Ice.

The deceased have been identified as Aisha Nicole McGee, 25, of Tyler, and Steven Ray Smith, 30, of Tyler.

Tyler Police Department Public Information Officer Don Martin said that at 2:44 a.m., police responded to a report of gunshots in the 3100 block of Pointe North Drive in Tyler, across from Club Ice. Upon arrival, two victims were found dead from multiple gunshot wounds.

Martin said the bodies were discovered after a security guard working at the club heard the shots outside and went to a wooded area across the street to investigate.

After approaching the scene, the guard found two bodies and called 911. Emergency medical services administered first aid on the victims but were unable to revive them.

Their bodies were taken to Dallas for autopsies.

At 10 a.m. Sunday, Martin said police had identified a possible suspect, but that more information was needed at the time to confirm if the individual was involved in the case.

Martin said police would be interviewing those who were in attendance at the club. Anyone with information can contact the Tyler Police Department at 903-531-1000, or Crimestoppers at 903-597-CUFF (903-597-2833). Crimestoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest and charges filed against the suspects in this case or any felony case.

This is the third homicide case the Tyler Police Department has investigated this year. The other two cases were solved and arrests were made.
