For almost a year now, a passerby making their way along the sleepy, winding, East Texas back road of County Road 192 in Tyler has probably caught a glimpse of the city’s newest wedding and event center – The Folmar.

The public can tour the facility in an open house even set for 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21.

The Folmar sits on 20 acres of beautiful rolling hills and piney-wooded landscapes. It offers a small vintage farmhouse previously owned by a couple whose 60 years of marriage inspired the venue’s name. The Folmars lived out half of their years there. The new owner wanted to capture and share The Folmar’ love story with future brides and patrons.

“When the property was purchased from The Folmars, all that was certain at that point, was that the couple’s love story and their adoration for the property, itself, needed to be a part of the future endeavor,” said General Manager Ashley Sanders. “Eventually, the idea to build a wedding and event center came to mind.”

The venue’s grounds offers an area designated as the “man enclave,” intended for the groom and his groomsmen on the day of the wedding or for any masculine party needs. It also features a 900-square-foot party barn, a roadside chapel, the Oak Ceremony Tree set aside as an option where couples can recite vows or host other events.
