Tyler Paper unveils changes; new sections focus on family, lifestyle

Sunday’s Tyler Morning Telegraph brings some exciting changes, primarily a new section called INspire.

INspire is a rebranding of our former Discover section with the goal of providing an easy-to-navigate section that contains high quality feature writing focusing on the East Texas region.

The coverage area for these features isn’t just confined to East Texas, however. We know some of our readers enjoy trips to the Texas Hill Country, Louisiana and Arkansas. We try to provide readers with a taste of some of the best offerings from these locales, all of which are in daytrip distance.

So what will you find in INspire? Features about interesting people and places in the region as well as coverage of the arts, fashion and high-end homes.

Some of the content might look familiar to loyal readers of our sister publication, IN Magazine, as the magazine contains many of these stories. But the weekly INspire section also will feature additional photos from these stories as well as curated content focused on arts, entertainment, style and living.

How you spend your money and your leisure time is important, and we’re hoping INspire becomes a destination to help you better navigate how to do both.

We’re also bringing back a popular feature in the new section – photos from society events around town. Through the section’s IN Focus page, we hope to highlight the faces seen at these events. Our FocusInOn.me photographers already are a fixture at many of these events, posting photo galleries from these happenings on our website. We now hope to feature some of the photos in print as well.

We’ll need your help to make sure we’re hitting all of the key faces and places, so please send notice of your event to news@tylerpaper.com, and we’ll do our best to cover it.

As we revamp this Sunday section, it will mean some changes to other sections as well. We’re also rolling out a new Family+Life section on Thursdays that will replace Yes!

Much of the content will be the same positive, uplifting stories as before. But the section’s identity will be centered on family, friends and lifestyle issues that hopefully improve your quality of life.

That might mean a feature on a neighbor doing a good deed, a Boy Scout earning an honor or a deeper look at that heartwarming story making the rounds on social media.

We’ll have a calendar of upcoming family friendly activities and occasionally some parenting advice and activities you can do with your kids. An extension of this focus on family also can be seen in our newest publication, Small Town Kids, which comes out quarterly.

We get it. You’re busy and there’s no shortage of information out there. Our goal with these changes to our print product is to help streamline that information into a format that’s easy to use. Another area where you’ll see such a change is we’re moving the Bridge column from Friday’s community page to Wednesday’s community page, located in the My Generation section.

And don’t forget about all of the ways we help you sort through and streamline information on our digital platforms. If you haven’t checked out our mobile app, I urge you to do so by searching Tyler Tx News in the app store. You’ll find all we’ve talked about and more, including information about shopping, dining, recreation and area schools to name a few.

So whether you’re unfolding the paper and kicking back with your coffee on a leisurely Sunday morning or checking out the latest headlines on your phone while you wait in line at the grocery store, our goal is to inform, inspire and involve you in the community conversation through the content we provide.
