Longview teen killed in Wednesday night wreck

LONGVIEW (KYTX) – One person is in jail after allegedly causing a wreck Wednesday that killed a 16-year-old girl.

According to Longview police, a gray Range Rover driven by Thomas E. Henkel, 33, crossed over the median on Loop 281 and struck a gray Ford Escape driven by Lauren Elrod, 16.



The impact caused the Escape to roll and Elrod was ejected. She died at the scene.

Henkel was arrested for intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle. He is in the Gregg County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
