Longview police make arrest in January 2015 homicide after tip

LONGVIEW (KYTX) – Longview police have arrested a suspect in connection with the January 2015 homicide of 30-year-old Garrett Dawn Neal.

On Monday, 24-year-old Aaron Undria McCoy, of Longview, was taken into custody and charged with murder. He is being held in the Gregg County Jail on a $100,000 bond.

At 9:03 a.m. Jan. 28, 2015, Longview police were dispatched after a report of a dead body at a house in the 1700 block of Sandlin Street. When officers arrived, they found Neal’s. It appeared he had been shot and died as a result of his wounds.

The recent arrest came as a direct result of an individual coming forward to police. Police were able to corroborate that information and obtain a murder warrant for McCoy.

Police continue to encourage individuals with information to come forward. That information may assist with this investigation or other homicides that have occurred in the city.



The investigation is ongoing.
