Local Restaurants celebrating Cinco De Mayo all week long with drink specials

In preparation for Cinco De Mayo, several local Mexican food restaurants are offering their guests drink specials all during the week. On the Border, 4301 S. Broadway in Tyler, will celebrate its 15th annual Cinco De Mayo Fiesta on Thursday with drink specials from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The restaurant, well known for its frozen margaritas and relaxing patio atmosphere, will offer $3 beers and $3 margaritas. The bar and patio areas will stay open until 11:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Mercados, 2214 West Southwest Loop 323 in Tyler, is featuring specials on drinks Monday through Thursday this week. Mexican bottled beers will be $2.50 and the popular beer ritas will be $7.99 in celebration for Cinco De Mayo.

“Every year, we see a larger than normal crowd come through on Cinco De Mayo,” said Pete Valdez, manager at Mercados in Tyler adding that they like doing the specials on the drinks all during the week leading up to Cinco De Mayo.
El Charro on the Ridge in Tyler, 6899 Oak Hill Blvd is offering drink specials and will have a live band on site in celebration for Cinco De Mayo.
“Cinco De Mayo is a big event for us, being in the Mexican food business- we had a big party last year and it went well,” said Mike Bentley, manager at El Charro on the Ridge. “We will have Larry Stanley and David Stanley from Tyler who are our main stays, they will do a show for us on Thursday night.”
