Lufkin Police: man throws ex-wife out of wheelchair in Kmart parking lot

(KYTX) – One man was arrested in Lufkin after allegedly throwing his ex-wife out of her wheelchair in the Kmart parking lot.

The incident happened on the 3000 block of South Redditt Dr. around 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

According to the Lufkin Police Department, a woman said James Cook, 50, threw her out of her wheel chair after becoming angry and accusing her of stealing his tablet.

She said that before throwing her out of it, he attempted to spin her out of it.

A witness flagged down an officer to help the woman.



Cook was arrested after walking away from the scene. The victim said before the incident, they had gone to eat and did a little shopping with their son when Cook became angry at her.

A med unit was called to the scene to check out injuries to the woman’s wrists, knee and back.

Cook is being held at the Angelina County Jail one count of injury to a child/elderly/disabled.
