LONGVIEW – Texas High made a free throw with 3 seconds left to edge John Tyler 71-70 in the opening round of the Leroy Romines Memorial Tournament on Tuesday at Lobo Coliseum.

The consolation final is set for 4 p.m. while the championship is slated for 6 p.m.
After Texas High went ahead by 1 late, John Tyler was out of timeouts and had to go the length of the floor in 3 seconds. The Lions got off a shot but it didn’t go down, sending them to their second loss to Texas High this year.
Jacob Owens-Bush led JT with 18 points while Mashaud Moore came through with 17 points off the bench.
In two games against the Tigers, Moore has scored 30 points, including 12 in the first half today.
“The guy just had it going,” JT coach Cedeno Clark said. “I thought the last game we played against Texas High he brought a lot of enthusiasm and energy coming off the bench and he did the same thing this game.
“I just wish we would’ve kept feeding him a little more because he really had it going on. … He was just solid for us today.”
