Daughters of the Republic of Texas host annual history essay contest

The Daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT) have announced the topics for the annual Texas History Essay Contest. The contest is open to all fourth and seventh grade students.
There are monetary awards at the local and state levels.

The topic for the fourth grade essay is “James Butler Bonham, Messenger of the Alamo.”
The seventh grade topic is “European Immigrants in the Republic of Texas.”
The deadline for entries is Feb. 1.
It is the mission of DRT to preserve and promote the history of Texas before and during the 10 years of the Republic. The essay contest encourages students to focus on a significant person or event and thereby improve their appreciation for our state.

All Saints announces 2015 AP scholars
All Saints Episcopal School announced its Class of 2015 graduates who earned the title of AP (Advanced Placement) Scholar for their performance on the AP Exams.
These students were named AP Scholar: Eden Absar, Perry Clements, Danielle “Sunni” Gatewood, Emily Hegwood, Diana Kim, Megan Kirkpatric, Nicholas Klouda, Payton Leihgeber, Elisabeth ‘Betsy’ McKinney, Joseph Mora, Madison Parks and Alexis “Lexie” Rains.
Named AP Scholar with Honor are: Katherine Beall, Parker Towns and Hunter Wick.
Named AP Scholar with Distinction are: Blake Bengtson, Lauren Birtcher, Ariana “Ari” Blau, Noah Fanous, Ian Finlay, Caroline Norton, Jarod Pamatmat and Keith Phillip.
