13-year-old girl’s wish is for loving, forever family

Ruth is in foster care and not used to getting a lot of attention.

We set out to change that by giving this 13-year-old a day of pampering at a beauty parlor.

Ruth said with a smile, “I’ve never had this type of attention before. I love it!”

We took Ruth to get her hair, nails and makeup done. It was the perfect setting to open up about life.

“I love to draw. I love horses and I love blue,” Ruth said.

Ruth has a creative hand. She’s been drawing pictures ever since she can remember.

“Like when I was little, when I was 5, I drew a hand,” she shared.

Ruth is a great art student and she’s also a history buff.

“It tells me everything about the past that I need to know,” she said. “And I would like to know about my past, too.”

Learning from the past, Ruth understands that her future is entirely what she makes of it. One day she wants to bring her imagination to life at the movies.

“Pixar! I really want to work there,” she said excitedly.

Ruth’s dream job is to be an animator, helping audiences to fall in love with her cartoon characters.

“You get to make up your own movie and then you just draw it out and you plan it,” she said.

Beautiful on the outside and especially on the inside, Ruth is as sweet as she is smart. If she had only one wish, she said it would be simply for a family. Nothing particular. Just a family.

“It doesn’t really matter as long as they love me,” she said.
