Man drives through Mercy Ships fence after evading arrest

SMITH COUNTY (KYTX) – Smith County Sheriff’s Deputies arrest a man after evading arrest and running through a fence Monday night.
Lt. Gary Middleton tells our news partners at CBS19 they received reports of a white Prius driving erratically near I-20 and Loop 49. When Deputies located the vehicle, the driver ran a stop sign prompting a pursuit.
The chase ended after the driver ran through the fence of a Mercy Ships property on Hwy 110. Deputies arrested the man after a short foot chase.
Lt. Middleton says the man is facing traffic charges and charges for evading arrest with additional charges pending.
The man’s identity has not yet been released.
