LONGVIEW (KYTX) – Our news partner CBS 19 is reporting that police are on the scene of a body found at the Paul Boorman Trail near Summers Drive in Longview.

They are investigating an area of the north side of the trail near West Loop 281 behind Heritage Mitsubishi. We’re told a Justice of the Peace is also on his way to the scene.

Longview police are asking that residents stay away from the north side of the trail.

We have a reporter on the scene and will update you as we get more information.

UPDATE: Gregg County Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Tim Bryan has ordered an autopsy for the body found near Paul Boorman Trail this afternoon. Bryan says it appears the body belonged to a black man in his 30s, but he has not been identified.

He says the death appears to be either accidental or from natural causes. No foul play is suspected at this time, but crime scene investigators remain on the scene this afternoon gathering evidence.

Once the body is retrieved from Grace Creek, where it was located, it will be sent to a Tyler forensic lab for autopsy.

People working nearby say two joggers noticed the body while they were visiting the walking trail late this morning.
