Thankfully New Orleans doesn’t have a monopoly on all the Mardi Gras festivities. Texas cities from Palestine to Galveston also let the good times roll.

Here are options to enjoy Mardi Gras – Texas style.

 

Palestine



Palestine captures the spirit of Mardi Gras with its A Taste of New Orleans on Feb. 7 downtown. The celebration of Louisiana-style cuisine showcases talents of East Texas chefs and wineries from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and a Mardi Gras parade at 5 p.m. visitpalestine.com

 

Jefferson

Jefferson’s Mardi Gras Up River takes place on the weekend of Feb. 6 to 8.

During the Doo Dah Parade at 7 p.m. on Feb. 6, everyone is invited to dress in their craziest Mardi Gras costumes and join the revelry. The Grand Parade is set for 2 p.m. on Feb 7 and a children’s parade will take place at 2 p.m. on Feb. 8. mardigrasupriver.com

 

Galveston

Galveston boasts of having the largest Mardi Gras celebration in Texas. Mardi Gras! Galveston events are set from Feb. 6 to 17 and include concerts, parades, balcony parties and masked balls.

Dallas

Mardi Gras Texas Style! Is scheduled for Feb. 21 on the grounds of the Texas State Fair in Dallas. The festival combines the fun and flavors of Mardi Gras with country music entertainment on five stages.mardigrasdfw.com

 

Port Arthur

Port Arthur’s Mardi Gras of Southeast Texas bills itself as a family friendly festival. Events take place Feb. 12 to 15. The theme is” Safari Pardi.” mardigras.portarthur.com

 

Crystal Beach

The highlight of Crystal Beach’s Mardi Gras-themed is its grand parade on Feb. 14. The highlight is the parade set for Feb 14. lighthousekrewe.com

 

Orange

The Mardi Gras celebration in Orange takes place on Feb. 7 at the Riverfront Boardwalk and includes a concert and parade. orangetexas.org

 

Lamar

The beads will fly when Lamar celebrates LaMardi Gras on Feb. 13 and 14. The big parade takes place at 11 a.m. on Feb. 14. lamardigras.com

 

San Antonio
