The 119-suite Residence Inn by Marriott in Tyler is set to open this week.

Located at 350 W. Heritage Drive, the all-suite Residence Inn Tyler will operate as a Marriott franchise, owned and managed by Irving-based NewcrestImage Management. It is on a nearly 3-acre lot near Carmike Cinema and the new Texas Spine & Joint facility on South Broadway Avenue.

The hotel is the third for Longview native Jagdish Patel.

“We’re very excited about developing a hotel in Tyler,” Patel, vice president of operations for NewcrestImage, said in May 2013.

Patel, 29, was born and raised in Longview and his family has owned hotels in the East Texas area since 1978. The family formed Image Hospitality in 1993, and merged the company with Newcrest Management to form NewcrestImage, he said.

Patel said they have developed two Tyler hotels and two in Longview. They sold the Holiday Inn Express on Troup Highway and Loop 323 and the Courtyard Marriott on South Broadway Avenue, he added.

Patel said the company has been working with Marriott since 2004. The company has its own in-house construction team, and it builds hotels in Texas and surrounding states. He said the new design is the ninth generation of Residence Inns and is the latest prototype design for the hotel.

The hotel will feature the brand’s innovative, new design and will offer studio and one-bedroom suites. The contemporary suites are designed to enhance the comfort and lifestyle of travelers on the road, offering guests flexible spaces and upgraded amenities to help maintain a healthy balance and routine while traveling.

With a larger, expansive workspace, complimentary high-speed Internet access, and a multitude of easily accessible outlets, guests are able to work efficiently throughout the suites. Designed for stays of five nights or more, each suite also has a fully-equipped kitchen. The Residence Inn provides complimentary breakfasts, hosts weeknight evening gatherings and maintains a business library, a meeting room, an indoor swimming pool, exercise room and Sport Court.

“We are pleased to introduce Residence Inn hotels in the Tyler area,” Diane Mayer, vice president and global brand manager of Residence Inn, said in a prepared statement. “When on the road for an extended period, our guests need space to spread out, maintain their life’s pace and restore their energy to help them maintain a healthy balance and routine while traveling. This new hotel offers them a seamless blend of modern style and functionality that allows them to settle in and thrive.”
