Palestine man arrested on multiple drug charges

A Palestine man was arrested late Friday on multiple drug charges and for unlawfully carrying a firearm.

At 11:53 p.m. Friday, a Palestine police officer pulled over a gray Pontiac G6 for not having a license plate in the 1100 block of East Palestine Avenue, according to a news release.



The officer saw a firearm in the car, and the driver gave permission to search the vehicle. Marijuana, suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were found in the glove compartment on the passenger side, according to police.

The car’s passenger, 22-year-old Christopher Olivarez was arrested and charged with manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of marijuana in a drug free zone.

Olivarez was booked into the Anderson County Jail with bonds totaling $370,000.
