The Friends of the Arboretum invites the public to come to the historic Stinson House, behind the Gov. Hogg City Park on Texas Highway 37 in Quitman.

The celebration will begin at 10 a.m. with the reading of the Declaration of Independence and what happened to its signers later in life.

Live music provided by The Model A’s.

The group will hold an inaugural apple pie contest this year with first place prize of $40, second place $20 and third place $10.
