DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Due to inclement weather and course conditions, the third round of the 2014 NAIA Men’s Golf National Championships has been delayed until Friday. The 63rd annual event, which is being played on the Jones Course at the LPGA International Golf Club, will resume at 8 a.m. EDT.

In addition to the delay, the championships will be shortened to 54 holes from its original 72 holes due to fact that play has to be completed by the end of the day on Friday. This decision was made by the National Championships Tournament Committee, in conjunction with the event’s rules officials, to guarantee quality and consistent playing conditions for all 156 golfers.

Only three teams completed their third round on Thursday.

The top 15 teams, including leader Faulkner (Ala.) and second-place Texas Wesleyan, were unable to tee off.

Faulkner leads at 575, followed by Texas Wesleyan (577). Coastal Georgia and Oklahoma City are tied for third at 581.

Jose Pablo Rolz of Texas Wesleyan leads the medalist race with a 138 (71-67). He is a senior from Guatemala City, Guatemala.

Other Rams golfers include Tyler senior Cal Clyde (T35, 76-71—147), Burleson junior Colby Webb (T27, 74-72—146), Traverse City, Michigan, sophomore Nikolaj Brons-Piche (T35, 72-75—147) and Stephenville sophomore Shaun Hensley (T65, 75-75—150).

Faulkner’s Hrafin Gudlaugsson is second behind Rolz at 141 (71-70).
