Former first lady to speak to Tyler

The lineup for speakers at this year’s Leadercast on Friday will run the gamut of leadership experts.
Executives, consultants, authors and others will join former first lady Laura Bush to speak to audiences in Tyler and across the world via telecast. The Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce and Leadership Tyler are partnering for the second year to bring the event to Green Acres Baptist Church CrossWalk Conference Center, 1607 Troup Highway.
More than 100 tickets remained on Friday, Tyler Chamber Chief Operating Officer Henry Bell said. Last year’s sold-out event drew about 600 people, and they have increased the number of tickets available this year to 800. They can be purchased at eventbrite.com until they sell out — or the morning of Leadercast.
Broadcast live from Atlanta, Ga. to hundreds of locations around the globe, this year’s theme, “Beyond You,” challenges leaders to focus outward rather than inward.
Rosemary Jones, chairwoman of the Tyler Chamber, helped bring the event to Tyler and said Leadercast’s “focus is on bringing morals and values into your everyday leadership programs in your business.”
Speakers include Andy Stanley, author and communicator; Malcolm Gladwell, journalist and author; Archbishop Desmond Tutu, human rights activist; Randall Wallace, director, screenwriter, producer and songwriter; Jack Welch, former CEO of General Electric; Laura Schroff, author and former Time executive; Dr. Henry Cloud, psychologist and leadership consultant; and Simon Sinek, author and leadership expert. Hosts are Cat Deeley and Tripp Crosby.
The event serves as a fundraiser for the Tyler Chamber and Leadership Tyler.
Members of the Tyler Chamber and Leadership Tyler can purchase tickets for $75. Nonmembers can buy tickets for $80. And tickets for eight or more people can be bought for $70. For tickets, visit www.eventbrite.com.
The program begins with registration at 7 a.m. The first session will start at 8 a.m. and concludes by 3:30 p.m. Snacks and lunch will be provided and door prizes will be given. Books also will be available for purchase from the speakers, and each participant will receive a workbook with information about the topics.
Presenting sponsors include Brookshire Grocery Co., Core Insights, Express Employment Professionals, Tyler Morning Telegraph, KYTX CBS19 and KLTV.
