HS Softball/Baseball Roundup: LadyCats clinch 16-4A title

WHITEHOUSE — The Whitehouse LadyCats clinched the District 16-4A championship with a 7-3 win over Corsicana on Friday.

Micah Gray and Brooke Brady both went yard for the LadyCats (24-6, 9-1).



Maggie Beard picked up her 16th victory in the circle for Whitehouse, which will play Red Oak in the bi-district playoffs.

Lindale shuts out Jacksonville, 18-0

JACKSONVILLE — Katie Rodriguez threw a two-hitter as Lindale blanked Jacksonville 18-0 on Friday.

Allie Thompson went yard, Karlie Kerner hit a triple and Morgan Green, Heather Gilbert and Bailey Dudley each had troubles for the Lady Eagles (8-2 District 16-4A).

Jacksonville will play a three-game series against Ennis in the Class 4A bi-district playoffs.

Game 1 is set for Jacksonville at 6 p.m. Thursday. Game 2 is 6 p.m. Friday in Ennis, with a third game, if necessary, to follow Game 2 at approximately 8 p.m.

Van routs Malakoff, finishes regular season 24-1

VAN — Autumn McKinney threw a one-hitter as Van finished the regular season with a 12-1 win over Malakoff on Friday.

The Lady Vandals (24-1) received a triple from Hallee Carter and a double from Kylee Moore among their 11 hits.

Van opens the Class 3A playoffs against Gilmer at Bullard Brook Hill. The teams play at 7 p.m. Thursday and 3 p.m. Saturday, April 26.

Mineola meanwhile finished District 15-3A at 8-2 and beat Sulphur Springs 5-2 in a warm-up game Friday. The Lady Jackets will play Spring Hill in the playoffs. Game 1 is 7 p.m. Friday in Mineola and Games 2 and 3 will be at Spring Hill starting noon Saturday.

Wright powers AG past LO

LONE OAK — Dalton Wright went 4 for 4 with five RBIs to lead Alba-Golden to an 11-1 win over Lone Oak on Friday.

Wright had a triple and a home run, finishing a double shy of a cycle.

Joseph Cockrum and Jesse Poisel each added three hits for the Panthers, with Cockrum scoring four times.
