BULLARD — A trio of Bullard Brook Hill athletes signed letters of intent to continue playing sports in college.

Zac Wilson (football), Kendall Wells (soccer) and Kennedy Rose (soccer) signed during a special ceremony Wednesday at the Kyle Lake Athletic Center; Wilson with Hendrix College, Wells with Dallas Baptist University and Rose with Tyler Junior College.

Wells and Rose helped Brook Hill claim a state championship last spring, plus have helped the Lady Guard to unbeaten record so far this season. Rose will play for her dad; Apache Ladies head coach Corey Rose.

“I was always looking into it, but I never thought I would go there,” Rose said. “I was always wanting to go to a four-year college, but I prayed about it and my heart really made me want to go to TJC.”

Said Wells: “It’s really exciting that I get another four years because I’m definitely not ready for it to be over. Getting the opportunity is awesome.”

Brook Hill won the TAPPS Division III state title last season.

“It really helps with confidence,” Wells said.

Wells (Sting Dallas ’96) and Rose (East Texas Sting) play club soccer as well, which helped them get to the college level.

“My parents made the sacrifice of driving me to Dallas three or four times a week for practices and games,” Wells said. “We go to different states for a lot of tournaments, so that’s really time consuming and can get really expensive and pricey.”

Rose is looking forward to playing for her dad at TJC.

“He’s my club coach, so he is harder on me sometimes and I think that’s just because I’m his daughter,” she said. “But he pushes me and I’m really excited for him to be my coach in college.”

Meanwhile, Wilson is excited to play at Hendrix, which competes in NCAA Division III. The 6-2, 190-pound linebacker registered 47 tackles despite missing time with an injury last fall.

He helped Brook Hill finish 7-4.

“I chose Hendrix because I really fell in love with the coaches,” Wilson said. “I met the coaches, saw the facilities and met some the players I knew that’s where I should be. They are just now building their program, so I think I will be a good fit for them.”
