Troup Rotary Club to host trivia night

The Troup Rotary Club will host its annual trivia night scholarship fundraiser tonight.
The event allows teams of up to six people to try their luck at trivia questions, all for the benefit of Troup High School students.
Trivia night is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Troup High School cafeteria, 927 Arp Drive. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Troup Rotary Club member Bill Lacy said this year’s categories include “Where in the World,” “Texas Our Texas,” “Sports,” and “Celebrities.”
He said each team has answer sheets, and questions could be multiple choice, true/false or fill-in-the-blank. During the contest, teams will be able to keep track of how they fare against the other groups, Lacy added.
In the end, a winner is announced.
Lacy said the winner receives a trophy, but can only keep the trophy one year until they can come back to defend their title. He hopes to have more than 20 teams participate, and encouraged people to come to Troup for a night of fun.
“We’re trying to make it as across-the-board as we can. It’s not just for older people or younger people. Everybody has a chance to get in there and win,” he said.
Lacy said a concession booth will also be open that night.
The cost is $75 per team, with proceeds going toward scholarships for Troup High School students.
