Crusaders roll to win

After falling behind 7-0 early in the first quarter, the Bishop T.K. Gorman Crusaders rallied for 35 consecutive first-half points and held on for a 51-42 TAPPS Division II District 2 win over Trinity Christian-Cedar Hill Friday at McCallum Staidum.
TCCH (4-4, 1-4) jumped to a 7-0 lead with 9:14 on the first-quarter clock when Tre’von Gilbert hit Jon Cole on a 70-yard TD pass.
Gorman (4-4, 2-3) roared back with 14 points in the quarter on a 5-yard run by Taylor Hurst and a 24-yard Tristan Saint to Collin Parks pass.
The Crusaders added 21 in the second quarter on a 4-yard run scoring run by Hurst and touchdown passes by Saint of 40 yards to Connor Hobbs and 10 yards to Michael Goodwin.
Saint finished the game completing 19 of 32 passes for 284 yards with two interceptions.
TCCH began to close the gap in the third scoring two unanswered touchdowns on passes of 36 yards and 44 yards from Gilbert to Marcus Woodall for a 35-20 Gorman lead.
The Crusaders stretched their lead to 42-20 early in the fourth quarter on a 42-yard carry by Parks.
TCCH closed to within seven on back-to-back TDs, one on a 12-yard carry by Gilbert and the other on a 36-yard blocked punt return by Treyvaugh Austin.
Gorman gave itself breathing room with its own pair of scores, a 37-yard field goal by Martin Guzman and a 33-yard run by Hurst. A missed PAT on the second score made it 51-35.
TCCH added a late TD on a a 30-yard TD pass from Gilbert to Garry Nolley.
