The 2014 Tyler Cattle Barons’ Gala committee unveiled the theme for this year’s event, “Wranglers & Roses” at the annual branding party today at Outback Steakhouse.
The logo, a vibrant combination of inked-style roses around a denim pocket, represents the essence of the Gala, this year’s chairs agreed.

“We chose this theme because ‘wranglers’ refers to not only men, but to our Little Wranglers,” explained Gala Co-Chairwoman Tanya Merritt. “The ‘roses’ refer to our ladies, the ‘Circle of Roses’ and also makes reference to Tyler, Texas.”
Little Wranglers are children who are fighting cancer. One child is honored each year as part of the event. The Circle of Roses serves as a memorial to those who have passed away while fighting the disease.
“It brings our theme full-circle,” Co-Chairwoman Melissa Braswell said.
The committee also revealed that the 2014 Tyler Cattle Baron’s Gala will be held at the Rio Neches Ranch, the home of Harry and Dawn Leatherwood. The event will be held June 14, 2014. Tanya and Brian Merritt and Melissa and Jason Braswell are chairing the event.
Nancy and Joe Cavender and Jacqueline and Clay Cavender were announced as the honorary chairmen for the 2014 Gala. They have supported the Tyler Cattle Barons’ Gala for many years through sponsor parties at their store as well as serving on the committee, volunteering their time and even hosting the Gala at their ranch in 1997.
The 2014 Tyler Cattle Barons’ Gala is the principle fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, Tyler. Every day, ACS saves lives and supports patients in Smith County. Nationwide last year, ACS supported 90,000 cancer patients from diagnosis through treatment, gave one million free transportation services and answered more than 200 calls each day to help with free information.
