For those interested in stargazing, there is a free opportunity to do so tonight.

Tyler Junior College’s Center for Earth and Space Science Education will have a star party starting at dusk, about 8 p.m. today, according to a college news release.

The center is at 1411 E. Lake St. on the TJC main campus.

“We will have telescopes set up outside starting at dusk, and the show will go on no matter the weather,” center director Dr. Tom Hooten said, according to the news release.

During the star party, the science center will be open to the public for free, and the live night sky will be projected in the dome theater.

“Origins: The Dawn of Dinosaurs” is the science center exhibit and features life-size dinosaur models, their mammal-like prey, original fossil wood and volcanic ash, according to the news release.

Visitors can learn about topics such as radiometric dating, evidence of the ancient environment, and clues to the Triassic climate.

The star party will be held in partnership with the Astronomical Society of East Texas and the TJC Society of Physics Students/American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers.
