The Whitehouse Municipal Fire Department is making administrative changes amid questioning about a recent fire that destroyed a family’s home.

The fire occurred in the early morning hours of Aug. 18 at a house in the 200 block of Senter Avenue, where Bob and Leanne Volkert lived with their two daughters.

Assistant City Manager Kevin Huckabee announced that he will act as Head of Department, conducting administrative duties with administrative fire consultant Mike Frost, a full-time employee with the Tyler Fire Department.

He said John Hargis, who was hired as part-time municipal fire chief last year, will serve as assistant fire chief, as will Jeff Molloy. Josh Britton and Nick Stephens will serve as municipal lieutenants.
