SAGINAW, Texas (AP) — A law enforcement officer was shot Tuesday as he served a search warrant in an investigation into the killing of a 6-year-old girl whose naked, bound body was found wrapped in a tarp on the corner of a North Texas residential street, police said.

Saginaw police spokesman Damon Ing said a person at the house where officers were serving the warrant was also shot. Ing had no information on the conditions or identities of either of the two who were shot.

A spokesman with MedStar Emergency Medical Services in Fort Worth, which transported the two to the hospital, said one was shot in the groin and the other was shot in the head. Matt Zavadsky also had no information on their conditions or identities.

The house in Saginaw, just north of Fort Worth, is two doors down from the home of Alanna Gallagher, whose lifeless body was discovered July 1 by a couple of teenage boys. Authorities have offered a $10,000 reward for information into Alanna’s death.

No arrests have been announced.

The FBI is involved in the investigation and agents were at the scene of the shooting Tuesday morning, although the federal agency’s involvement in the serving of the warrant was not clear. A spokeswoman for the FBI in Dallas did not respond to a phone message seeking comment Tuesday morning.

Police were also trying to determine who set fire to a makeshift memorial for Alanna and also torched a car owned by the girl’s family that was parked in their driveway. The damage was discovered Friday.
